The centrepiece of the system is the combination of PRISMA® PVT 4.0 hybrid collectorsTWL storage tank & a cooling ceiling system. The system enables heating, cooling and power generation in a networked overall concept.

Motivation and objectives
Mussenbrock's new office building was designed as a so-called Eco primary building planned. An eco-primary building refers to a Sustainable, energy self-sufficient building conceptwhere "eco" stands for ecological efficiency and "primary" for the direct use of renewable environmental energy. The aim was to reduce the energy requirement for Heating, cooling and electricity completely over Sun, soil and air to cover. The thermally activated area of the PRISMA® PVT hybrid collectors was intelligently integrated into the building concept. The system also serves as a demonstration object that shows that PVT systems work in everyday operation, are economical and promote the acceptance of renewable building technology.

System structure and operating experience
Generate on the roof 24 PRISMA® PVT 4.0 hybrid collectors electricity and heat at the same time. Two TWL storage tank connect the energy flows with the heat pump and a ground absorber, which acts as a thermal source in heating mode and feeds the cooling circuit in summer.
It is controlled via the heat pump control system, meaning that no complex building management system is required. All energy flows are managed and measured automatically. In operation, the concept proves to be stable, efficient and easy to operate - a functioning example of the use of renewable energy in an office building.
